One day, while texting in class, a brilliant idea enters your mind.  If a nerd like Zuckerberg can make a fortune creating a website full of scandal dominated by corporate interests, then so can you!  For this mint 2017 blog please do the following:

(1) Describe your social media website and its purpose.

(2)Name and discuss at least three terms of use from your site.  In other words, what are the rules?

(3)Name the physical, political, ethical, and economical (PEPE) concepts of your social media site.  We will do a website as an example together.

The total length should be at least three full paragraphs or more.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Good luck!

You are to create a video for your second blog.  You have total freedom regarding the content.  In the past, students have done tutorials, movie previews, and music videos.  If you cannot do a video, you must do the following:

(1)Write a two paragraph summary on a video you would like to design.

(2)In the two paragraphs, you should mention who the three readers would be for your video.


(3)Conclude with what you hope your primary audience would get out of the video.

Blog II: Design Your Website

For this blog post, you are to discuss what the type of website you would design. First, think about the layout and design of the website. Remember, webpages are really just documents containing interactive links. Take into mind the things we discussed in class about balance, alignment, contrast, consistency, and grouping. Once you have a design in your mind, write about the following: Give a summary of your website's purpose and its intended audience. Consider the needs, attitudes, and beliefs of your readers and write about that in your first paragraph. In the second paragraph, write about the political, economical, physical, and ethical components of your website. Please write two paragraphs for this blog. You are welcome to go over.

Blog I: Summer-A After a hard day of work, you decide to check your email and find a strange message in the inbox. It is from your boss, but it is not addressed to you. You and one of the other employers share the same name first initial and last name. The email reveals these words: To: [xxxxxxxx] (names blacked out to protect the presumably guilty) From: Your paid-the-cost-to-be-boss-boss@work.com Message: D., I could not resist typing this message to you. As I sat in this uncomfortable, sweat-shop-made chair from Office Max that does not swivel and has a missing wheel, I think of our time together last night. My fingers tremble as they push on the hollow-snapping plastic revealing my inner-most-after-lunch thoughts. I think about wrapping my arms around your waist and holding you tightly, smelling the aloe and passion flower extract in your hair. I dream of the day you and I are together. Do not worry about her; the ol’ battle-axe will soon be take care of and out of our lives—forever. Together, you and I, will take on this endless stack of typed ennui and throw it all in the trash. Forget recycling; the best way is too start new and trash it all. Together, you and I will take leave of this paper-clipped life full of stale, burnt coffee full of grounds, ungrateful gossipers and be happy. I love you because I would not be writing in this flowerly language if it did not excite you. Trust me, I could say love in two sentences, but since words mean so much to you, well, here they are full of meaningless metaphors steeped with my own amorous feelings. Only you can make me try this hard. I will see you tonight at the usual place. Truly yours, A. P.S. If you could please put the staple in the right-hand corner for those reports, it would be great ;-) It appears you stumbled on an email revealing an affair. Keeping quiet might make you an accessory. In a two-paragraph response, discuss what you would do in this situation. Discuss the consequences of exposing your boss or keeping quiet in your response. Blog III: Create Your Website

For your third blog, you are to write a plan for your own personal website.  Like writing, think about how you make your website appealing to you potential audience.   You may include pictures or sketches for this assignment.

You are required to write at least two full paragraphs about your website and it's intended purpose.  You must also discuss PEPE and the different readers for this post.  Lastly, this post will be worth double the points because the resume and cover letter assignment interfered with due date.  I wish you the best of luck!

Blog I: Summer A

Poisoned Toys: An Unhappy Meal

You currently work for Tyko, a small toy company producing toys for fast food restaurants.  One of your clients happens to be McDonald's. To promote the latest movie, Inside Out, by Pixar, the Golden Arches retained Tyko to make miniatures of the films main characters. Tyko sends the designs to Model Asia, a major toys manufacturer in Peking, China.  After getting the model designs, Model Asia ships the Happy Meal toys back to Tyko.

McDonald's wants the toys a week earlier anticipating major business from the film's release.  Before fulfilling McDonald's order, you receive a memo from the People's Hospital in Bejing. Stating that the toys contain lead painting, and may have been responsible in the poisoning of several Peking children.  However, because of communication problems within the government, it will take two weeks before testing the validity of this claim.

You relay McDonald's this information; however, they insist on Tyko fulfilling the Happy Meal Order.  If Tyko declines, McDonald's threatens legal action. Millions of dollars are at stake.  

Supposing you were Tyko, what would you do in this situation?  Would you  risk poisoning American children?  Discuss both the risks of fulfilling the order or postponing it.  Then, conclude with your choice.

 

Blog II: The Video

For your second blog, you are to make a video or do a write up on one you want to do.  In your video or writing, identify your readers and main purpose.  You have complete freedom to do whatever type of video you want as long as it is appropriate. 

If you are doing a write up, then you must have at least two to three paragraphs summarizing the video and different readers.  The length of the video should be no longer than five minutes.  You want at least two minutes of screen time.  Here is my latest screen recording I did for my canvas training on my favorite website.
